Does Tekmetric charge per user?
No. Tekmetric prices per shop, not per user or per repair order. Unlimited users, unlimited repair orders and unlimited support are included at every tier, and shop owners control access permissions. Each physical location requires its own plan subscription.
This is the clearest structural difference between Tekmetric and Shopmonkey. A six-person shop pays the same as a one-person shop on Tekmetric; on Shopmonkey the same team costs an additional $20 per licence beyond the three to five included.
What is included at each Tekmetric tier?
- Start ($179) — digital vehicle inspections, smart jobs, VIN and licence plate decoding, declined job history, inventory and vendor management, parts and labour matrices, workflow notifications, digital authorisations with e-signature, digital invoicing, one-way messaging, financial, employee, customer, parts and DVI reports, 50+ third-party integrations, CARFAX and integrated parts ordering.
- Grow ($309) adds the Tekmetric labour guide, maintenance schedules, employee job and time clocks, fluid, filter and specification data, and canned job mapping.
- Scale ($409) adds unlimited two-way texting, advanced real-time reporting, the technician board and employee performance analytics.
- Enterprise adds integrated payments, a dedicated account manager and quarterly business reviews.
What is the catch with Tekmetric's entry price?
Two-way texting. Start and Grow are one-way messaging only — the shop can send, the customer cannot reply in-thread. Unlimited two-way texting arrives at Scale, $409 annually.
For a shop whose main problem is customer communication, the effective entry price is therefore $409, not $179. That is the single most important thing to establish before comparing Tekmetric to a competitor on headline price: Shopmonkey includes two-way texting on its $215 entry plan and AutoLeap on its $309 plan. Tekmetric's counterbalance is that unlimited digital inspections are included from Start, where Shopmonkey caps Basic at two templates.
